Carbon Reporting
Our climate is changing and affecting the world and the way we live. The terms Global Warming and now Global Boiling are making headlines nearly every day. Ellgia are keenly aware of the impact our operations have on the environment, are you? Do you want to know more about how your business waste affects the environment and develop a plan to help mitigate, reduce and equalise your impact?
Green House Gas (GHG) Emissions & Global Warming
It is widely known that GHG emissions are largely within our control to minimise and as a result reduce the impact our way of life has on the world around us. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is the most common GHG that we recognise as being a gas that human activity has directly increased through the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, cement production, development of our landscape and agriculture. CO2 is a significant contributor to global warming because this gas absorbs the Earth's surface heat energy and radiates it back to the ground. It is this process that means our planet cannot discharge all of its heat from the surface at night, therefore making our climate warmer.
Carbon Foot Print - Scope 1, 2 & 3 Emissions
Just about every action we undertake generates a carbon foot print. This is why many businesses are starting the journey to understand the impact their activities have and how much carbon is produced as a result of their business activities.
Essentially, scope 1 and 2 are those emissions that are owned or controlled by a company, whereas scope 3 emissions are a consequence of the activities of the company but occur from sources not owned or controlled by it. Emissions can also be direct or indirect. As with Scope 1 & 2, direct emissions are from sources that are directly owned or controlled by the company/reporting entity and indirect emissions that occur as a consequence of the reporting company/entity but occur at a source owned and or controlled by another company/entity.
We can help you to help everyone
Ellgia have developed a mechanism to help our customers to understand their GHG emissions and develop a programme to help reduce the impact on the wider environment. Depending on your requirement we can baseline your position, identify specific elements of waste and the process you undertake to generate that waste that would be targeted for reduction/change therefore reducing your businesses carbon impact.
